The human race (or mankind in general) is very ambitious. As a whole, we’re always setting goals and devising ways to accomplish them. Always hoping, dreaming and aspiring to become someone or something great or at the very least; better than what we are. Ambition is not necessarily bad but for everything that is worth having there is a price to pay. What can make it bad is the price one is willing to pay.
There are many forms of currency in the world, the Dollar, the Pound, the Euro, the Yen, Gold, Silber and many other forms of monetary exchange. Currency is merely a means by which we purchase things. There are other ways of paying for things though like trading goods or services rather than using money but however it’s done there is always an exchange one thing for another and most of the time the price is set. One must count the cost one is willing to pay not setting the value to high or to low and choose the currency wisely as some currencies are more precious then others.
There is a currency though that is more precious then any other. It is more sought after then money, more precious then silver or gold and more rare then diamonds. This currency is so precious and so rare in fact that there are more fakes of it then real. In fact, it is so rare that most don’t even know what the real looks like because all they have ever seen of it is the counterfeit. I’m sure you’ve probably figured out by now I’m not talking about anything physical. The currency I’m referring to here is the currency of love.
I know it seems a bit odd to compare love to currency but it is and, just like it’s physical counterparts, it has many forms. In its purest form, love is the most powerful of all currencies. It was for love that God sent his only begotten son that by him he might obtain the whole world.
God put the price of pure love so high that only by laying down one’s own life can it be obtained. If lessor a price is paid for it, it is not pure and there for not worth as much. Do not sell the pure love of God cheaply it is a precious thing. Do not sell it for money, for gold or for precious stones. Do not sell it for the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eye or the pride of life. The currency of Love is not to be compared to the things of this world because it is not a thing of this world it is a thing of God. God felt it such a precious thing that he gave his own life for it that all might know it. For to know love is to know God, for God is love.
John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
John 1:14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
1 Cor 13:4 Charity suffers long, and is kind; charity envies not; charity vaunts not itself, is not puffed up, Does not behave itself unseemly, seeks not her own, is not easily provoked, thinks no evil; Rejoices not in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; Bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Charity never fails:
Rom 13:10 Love works no ill to his neighbor: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law. And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed. The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light. Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying. But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.
